Committees

The strength of the Commission on Homelessness is in the broad base of agencies and organizations that participate in developing and improving the region’s projects and activities which provide services and housing to homeless people.

Within Central Florida Commission on Homelessness, there are committees comprised of our peers who have come together with the purpose of collaborating to enhance our system of care for persons within our community experiencing homelessness. Each committee focuses on an aspect of our system. See below list of committees.

Technical Expertise Committee (TEC)

The Technical Expertise Committee (TEC) serves as a vital advisory body within the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC), providing data-driven insights, policy guidance, and technical recommendations to strengthen our region’s homeless response system.

Youth Action Society (YAS)

The Youth Action Society (YAS) is a vibrant and empowering initiative within the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC), led by young people with lived experience of homelessness. YAS members are advocates, changemakers, and collaborators who bring their voices to the forefront of system transformation.

PIT (Point-In-Time Count) Advisory Committee

The Point-In-Time (PIT) Count Advisory Committee plays a vital role in guiding one of the most important data collection efforts within the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC). The PIT Count is a federally mandated annual census that captures a snapshot of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on a single night.

Lived Experience Council (LEC)

The Lived Experience Council (LEC) is a cornerstone of the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC), ensuring that the voices of those who have experienced homelessness are heard, respected, and integrated into decision-making processes.

Disaster Preparedness Committee

The Disaster Preparedness Committee plays a critical role within the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC), ensuring that our homeless response system is equipped to respond swiftly and effectively during emergencies and natural disasters.

Veteran Advisory Committee

The Veteran Advisory Committee is a dedicated group within the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC) focused on addressing the unique needs of veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This committee brings together veterans, service providers, housing specialists, and advocates to ensure that veteran voices are central to the design and delivery of housing and support services.

Youth Committee

The Youth Committee of the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC) is a dynamic group of young leaders, advocates, and service providers committed to addressing youth homelessness with compassion, innovation, and urgency.

HMIS Advisory Committee

The HMIS Advisory Committee is a key component of the HUD Continuum of Care (CoC), responsible for guiding the strategic use of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to improve service delivery, data quality, and system performance.
